Anime Releases 11/17

Here are the releases for today (11/17) at your local Video, Book Stores or the infamous Amazon website in the US. I only review Movies and Box Sets that are coming out as this will get the most bang for your buck. I did "borrow" the summaries from various sites so you can get a brief review of the story.

Nice week for several people from the selection we have. I actually have Fullmetal Alchemist Movie: The Conqueror of Shambala collectors DVD set, so will probably leave the blu-ray alone. I still do not have one here to use, but did get one for my wife and son (still need a TV though). I am probably passing on Neon Genesis movie as I am burned out with all the remixes and extras I have already seen. The exception may be the live action if and when it hits.

We can't forget the Dragon Box! As noted on Amazon "Truly the essential edition for Dragon Ball Z purists, this set isn’t an addition to your archive – it is your archive." okay then - so should you go for it - not sure, how about you let me know!

The rest are fairly new to me. Polyphonica looks interesting as I think I remember seeing the 1st episode. I am sure there are plenty of Case Closed fans that will grab the Season 3 set. Of course we got an "adult" anime this week as well - not that anyone of us would watch such things - hummm?

Anime Releases 11/10

Here are the releases for today (11/10) at your local Video, Book Stores or the infamous Amazon website in the US. I only review Movies and Box Sets that are coming out as this will get the most bang for your buck. I did "borrow" the summaries from various sites so you can get a brief review of the story.

I broke this up into Anime box sets and movies to make it a little simpler (I hope). This week seems to be great for all you DBZ fans. One box set and 2 movies (though I am sure these have been released over and over again for some damn reason). I had the Giant Robo box set and thought this was a pretty cool series.

I also have Vexille which I liked as the concept for the movie was quite interesting. I ahve seen some of the earlier Tsubasa series, but did not keep it up after the 7th DVD. I may get this box set along with the second one that comes out.I am looking forward to the new Naruto series, so will be picking this up especially for my son who is enamored by him. Hell, he even runs like him with his arms behind him.

I am also seeing more and more Anime coming out in Blu-ray. I have a player that I got for my wife, but have not set it up yet. Anyone gaining any personal love for getting Blu-ray instead of DVD format?

In 2077, 10 years after Japan withdrew into a sort of neo-Tokugawa isolation to pursue illegal cyborg technology, most of the population has been turned into androids by the evil Daiwa Heavy Industries. Vexille, a tough-as-press-on-nails mecha pilot in theDeunan Knute mode, joins in a raid on the remains of Tokyo to learn about the threat this technology poses.

Anime Releases 10/27

Here are the releases for today (10/27) at your local Video, Book Stores or the infamous Amazon website in the US. This kind of a quiet week for sets. My only personal choice is for Shonen Onmyouji Complete Series as I have been watching this. I find the connection between son, father and grandfather a nice one. They all get along and interact well with one another - most of the time. I tried to watch Boogiepop Phantom, but jumped off the train after 4 episodes. The yuri overtones at times is what got me interested, but did not get into it after watching it. I have not catched it yet, but Claymore may be of interest to me. Will have to check out a couple episodes before deciding.

There were 3 adult animes that came out as well: Wife-Swap Diaries, Nurse Me! and Sibling Secret (I think this is a re-release from 2004).

Anime Releases 10/20

Well besides the Transformer being released today as well. there are some good Anime's joining the fields this week.One I had not heard of was Blassreiter and I had to check it out. I managed to watch a couple of the episodes and think it may be a keeper (B Rating). I will be doing a full review later this week.

Other cool Anime are some Escaflowne ( Movie and Vision of) and Comic Party Revolution. Also this week there is Discode 1.2.3 (Adults Only) and a nice Cat-Boy series called Loveless. It is an interesting mix this week with Clannad and Comic Party Revolution as well. I am sure there is something here for just about anyone this week!

WOW -Another great week for those collecting - unless your budgets are tanked! This is especially a great week for us old timers that remember Astro Boy and Kimba. Astro Boy has several mini sets being released while Kimba has one currently. I know I will have to get Kimba set for my son.

I have seen both Rahxephon and Mushi-Shi. Both great series from 2 totally different times. Rahxephon is of the future with lots of Mecha, while Mushi-Shi is more of a tale from the past. Both have equally great story telling and exceptional artwork.

I got to say this is another month that could break someone's bank account. My personal recommendations are Burst Angel, Black Lagoon,Heat Guy J and One Piece. For this baseball fans, Big Windup! Oofuri is a great series as well.
